Wiersig, Ruth Ann (Marriage - 21 July 1956)

Ruth Ann Wiersig, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wiersig, became the bride of Ronald Robert Schoelzel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Schoelzel, at a wedding ceremony performed in Zion Lutheran church in Colby Saturday afternoon with Rev. Theo. C. Predoehl officiating.

Phyllis Stacke served as maid of honor, Patricia Schoelzel and Janice Wiersig as bridesmaids and Connie Wiersig as junior bridesmaid. The groom was attended by Darnell Schoelzel as best man and John Block, Jim Schoelzel and Dennis Schoelzel as groomsmen.

The bride’s gown of imported rose-bud lace, fitted bodice, with its long sleeves coming to points over the wrist and its tiny cover-buttons closing down the back was completed with a small Peter Pan collar. Its ballerina, lace skirt was featured over skirts of nylon tulled taffeta. Her cascade bouquet consisted of an arrangement of red roses interspersed with white pompoms and baby roses fastened to the streamers.

The maid of honor and the two bridesmaids were attired in indentically styled blue gowns of chantille lace with fitted bodice, ballerina length skirts starting with lace edged with a tiny ruffle insert and completed with nylon net. Over this they wore lace cover-up jackets with Peter Pan collars. The junior bridesmaid wore a gown of white net over taffeta with a ruffled yoke and a matching skirt. Their headpieces consisted of lovely crystal fringe tiara accented with pearl peps to match color of dresses. The maid of honor’s bouquet was centered with red roses surrounded with blue and white carnations. The other attendants had colonial bouquets of blue and white carnations. The mother of the groom and mother of the bride wore corsages of red roses centered with white carnations. Mrs. Walter Wiersig, grand mother of the bride, wore a red rose corsage.

A dinner was served and a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, and, in the evening, a dance was held at the Kolby Pavilion.
