Dittner, Margaret (Marriage - 11 June 1948)

A very pretty wedding took place on Friday, June 11, 1948 at 1 p.m. in the Methodist Church in Thorp when Miss Margaret Dittner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dittner of Butler, became the bride of Gordon Rodney Walker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Theo. Walker of Augusta. The Rev. Irish performed the double ring ceremony.

The bride wore a floor length white dress dotted with tiny silver flowers and her finger-tip veil was held in place by a band trimmed with silver sequins. She carried an all white shower bouquet of roses, sweet peas and gladioli.

Her only attendant was Mrs. Marshall Walker, sister-in-law of the groom, who wore yellow taffeta and carried a shower bouquet of pink and white roses, sweet peas and gladioli.

Mr. Walker was attended by his brother, Marshall.

Norman Dittner, brother of the bride and Clifford Williams, cousin of the groom, served as ushers.

During the ceremony Miss Beatrice Walker, sister of the groom, sang "I Love You Truly" and "Together with Jesus, Life’s Pathway We Tread," accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Leonard Johnson, an aunt of the bride.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents gave a reception at the home of Mrs. Martha Cole and son, Bird, grandmother and uncle of the bride. The house was decorated with pink, yellow, and white streamers and a white bell hung over the bride’s table. A three-tier wedding cake formed the centerpiece for the table.

The following guests were present - Mr. and Mrs. Theo. Walker, Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Walker, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Williams and family, Grandpa and Grandma Pettis; Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Pettis and family, Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Wood and family, all of Augusta; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Walker, Miss Beatrice Walker, Miss Ella Larson, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Beckman and Maynard Dittner of Eau Claire. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hoffmann and two daughters of Cornell; Mr. and Mrs. Mark Pelien and daughter of Madison; Mrs. C. W. Linner of Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Johnson and family of Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Sigward Johnson of Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Daines and family and Mrs. Martha Cole and Bird of Butler.

After a short honeymoon in Northern Wisconsin, Mr. and Mrs. Walker will be at home at Osseo, where the groom is employed as an electrician.

This day also was the twenty-ninth anniversary of Mrs. Walker’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dittner, and the nineteenth anniversary of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Johnson.
