Lester R. Morrison, 89, Neillsville, formerly of Loyal, died on Friday, Aug. 15, at Memorial Medical, Neillsville. Funeral services were held at Loyal. The Rev. John Davis officiated. Burial followed in West Spencer Cemetery, Spencer. Pall bearers were Travis Davis, Garth Davis, Dave Ehlert, Joshua Sheets, Tim Drinka, Robbie Voelker, Kirk Baker, and Nick Halpin.

Lester Ray Morrison was born on Oct. 3, 1918, in Perkinstown, to Casper and Lottie (nee Leakey) Morrison and was educated at area schools. He married Pearl Kenyon on April 6, 1938, in Wisconsin Rapids. He then entered the United States Marine Corps on May 17, 1944. He participated in combat action against the enemy during World War LL at Okinawa and Ryukyu islands. After his honorable discharge, he worked for the railroad and various construction companies for many years. He was a member of the Loyal American Legion Post 175 and in his spare time, he enjoyed deer hunting.

Survivors include five children five children, Kathryn Kostas, Marshfield, Marlene (Ben) Mootz Jr., Abbotsford, Linda Elmhorst (partner Charles Brody), Neillsville, Ray (Donna) Morrison, Loyal, and Jim (Karlyn) Morrison, Loyal; 23 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Pearl. On June 20, 1964; one daughter, Lois Voelker; two sons-in-law, Wayne Kotas and Stanley Voelker; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five brothers, Albert, Daniel, Claire, Clifford, and Harvey; and one sister, Dorothy.
