Reuben Vieth

DORCHESTER--Reuben M. Vieth, 84, Dorchester, died Feb. 24, 1999, at St. Joseph's Hospital Hospice Care Unit in Marshfield.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Salem United Methodist Church in Dorchester with the Rev. Henry Hall officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be his nephews, Ronald Krohn, Paul Krohn, Dan Wigstadt, James Pierce, Robert Harris and Eric Fischer.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Maurina Funeral Home of Dorchester is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Reuben Vieth was born Dec. 22, 1014 in Milwaukee, the son of Rev. Theodore and Molly (nee Neumann) Vieth. He was a graduate of Menona High School in Iowa. As a young man he worked at a shoe factory in Portage. Her served his country during World War II for 3 1/2 years with the United States Air Force.

On May 3, 1952, Reuben and the former Ethel Harris were united in marriage with Reuben's father offciating at the Salem Evangelical Church in Dorchester, Wis. He was employed with the Package Corporation in 1953 as a machine operator, retiring in 1977. After retiring, Reuben and Ethel traveled in the summer months with the Skerbeck Carnival which was operated by their son-in-law and daughter.

Reuben was a member of the Dorchester American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans. He was active in the Salem Church where he taught Sunday School and served as treasurer and as a trustee for many years. Reuben was a Packer backer and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He will be dearly missed by his wife of 47 years, Ethel Vieth, of Dorchester; a daughter, Debra (Joe) Skerbeck of Escanaba, Mich.; two sisters, Elizabeth Gavinski of Wisconsin Dells and Ruth (Reuben) Bloy of Brillion; three grandchildren, Jamie, Troy and Niki Skerbeck; and by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Lillian (Geithman) Vieth; and two sisters, Ann Regal and Helen Verdone.
