Parkhill, George B. #2 (26 FEB 1861 - 1 FEB 1947)

George B. Parkhill, 85, a former attorney of Clark County, died Feb. 1, 1947 at the home of his son in Galesville. Funeral services were held in Madison and burial took place there.

Mr. Parkhill was born in Lennox, N.Y., Feb. 26, 1861. He was the last of a family of seven brothers. In 1867, he came to Colby with his parents, who homesteaded a farm there. He taught school several years before entering the University of Wisconsin law school. After his graduation in 1884, he opened a law office in Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), where he continued to practice law for 30 years. In 1914, the family moved to Abbotsford, where he practice law until 1924, when he moved to Madison. In 1936 he retired from law practice and went to live with his son at Galesville.

On Nov. 15, 1887, he was married to Isabelle M. Salisbury, who preceded him in death in 1929. There are three surviving children: the son, Oakley of Galesville; a daughter, Mrs. Hazel Sinkler of Crystal Lake, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. Irene Lawson of Mendota.

Mr. Parkhill was active in civic affairs in the communities in which he lived. He served on the school board in Thorp and was postmaster there from 1902 to 1913. He was a member of the Modern Woodman Lodge and of the sons of Veterans, and a lifelong Odd Fellow. Her served to a term as district attorney of Clark County.
