McMahon, Matt (1868 - 11 JAN 1947)

Matt McMahon of St. Joe, Idaho, a brother of Mrs. Nora Trogner of Neillsville (Clark Co., Wis.), died Jan. 11, 1947, at the age of 78 years. Many years ago he resided in Neillsville and was married here to Bessie Campbell, a sister of Ezra Campbell, who will be remembered by the older residents as a man of influence in this community.

Mr. McMahon was born in St. Petersburg, Canada, in 1868, and moved with his family to Michigan. When he was a young man, the family came to Wisconsin and settled in Neillsville, where he lived for a number of years. Mr. McMahon was a violinist of considerable ability and played when young with orchestras and bands in this community. He was employed as a lumber scaler and in recent years had been engaged in fruit raising in Idaho.

Mrs. McMahon has been dead several years and in 1938 his daughter, Mrs. Arvelene Colburn, died at St. Mary’s Idaho. He is survived by an eight-year-old granddaughter, a brother, Mike McMahon of Centralia, Wash., and his sister, Mrs. Trogner. These two are the last of a family of 11 brothers and sisters.
