Harry Selves of Owen spent the week-end with his mother, Mrs. J. T. Selves.

Mrs. Frank Jackson spent the past week at Ashland with her sister, Mrs. Mae Harmon.

H. W. Reeves, at the Veterans Hospital at Wood, is improving and expects to be home soon.

Mr. and Mrs. Bert Heise of West Allis are spending this week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Guetschow.

A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Kaiser of Colby, Route 2, at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital, June 21.

Miss Janet Gummerson of Chicago, Ill., is spending the summer months with her grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Nystrom.

Kenneth Hasenohrl, with the U.S. Navy stationed at Monterey, Calif., is spending a 30-day leave at the home of his parents.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Franz and their guests, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Meese of Dover, Ohio, spent the past week at the Ray Franz cottages on Lake Buckatobon.

Capt. and Mrs. Norman Firnstahl and two children of Indianapolis, Ind., are spending a furlough with the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. I. M. Firnstahl.

On her 80th birthday anniversary, Pauline Tessmer received word that a son had been born to her grand daughter, Shelby (Passehl) Roemhild, Jr., at Whittier, Calif.

Mr. and Mrs. William Serdar and two children of Waukegan, Ill., are spending two weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Bane and the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Serdar.

Michael Franz is staying with his grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Franz, while his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Franz of Medford, their daughter, Raye, and son, Karl, are spending some time in western states and Canada.

John Marx, Evangelical and Reformed layman of Colby, was among 1,000 laymen from over the nation who attended the convention of the Churchmen’s Brotherhood of the Evangelical and Reformed church meeting at Milwaukee June 20-24.

Mr. and Mrs. Earl Butler of Colby and Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Franke of Curtiss returned Saturday from a two-week tour of western states and a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Butler and daughter and the William Roohr family at Medford, Ore.

The following Forester ladies attended the W.C.O.F. sponsored retreat at Holy Cross Seminary at La Crosse over the week-end: Mrs. Laura Frane, Mrs. Otto Baumgart, Mrs. Anna Schultz, Miss Celia Wolf, Mrs. Gertrude Schemmer and Mrs. Harry Ketcham, the latter of Abbotsford, Wis.

Col. E. F. Estrumse of Orlando, Florida, made a flying trip up here Sunday to visit his mother, Mrs. G. Estrumse, and his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Eldred Hanne, and daughter, Elaine, who went to meet him, when he landed at the Wausau airport at 10:30 A.M. He will leave this week-end for the west coast from where he will go to Japan where he will be stationed the next three years. His family will go with him.
