Mr. and Mrs. Jno. McGrogan spent Thanksgiving at Stevens Point the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jno. Neuberger.

 

Basket Ball meeting, Thursday evening, Dec. 5, at 8:30, at the Opera House.  All interested are requested to be present.

 

J. A. Melbinger has bought the interest of his partner, Henry Zachow, in the meat market and will continue the business.

 

Mr. and Mrs. E. Rossman, of Neillsville were guests of the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.O. Rhea on Thursday last.

 

Lodges are electing their officers at the regular meetings this week.  If you are a member of any of them be sure to attend.

 

Teachers Institutes will be held in Clark County at Owen, Dec. 6 and 7 at Loyal, Jan. 10 and 11 and at Neillsville Feb. 14 and 15.

 

Miss Bertha Van Low and Miss Sadie Crowley, teachers in the southern part of the county, spent Thanksgiving in the village.

Mr. and Mrs. Reinhard Ziehr of Stratford and Mrs. Peter Ziehr and daughter, of Thorp, are visiting at the John Ziehr home,---Boyd Times Herald.

 

A number of young people were highly entertained at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Geo Zillmann on Saturday evening last.  A candy pull was the principle diversion.

 

A big Potato dance will be given at the Thorp Opera House, Friday evening, Dec. 13.  Music by a combination of the two local orchestras.  Tickets 49c.  Spectatora (?) 14c.  Everyone cordially invited.

 

Miss Margurite Burke and John(?) Bogmill were the guests of the Misses Kotlaw at Auburndale on Thanksgiving day, the Misses Ell (?), and Ida Kotlaw returning with them(?) in the evening to attend the dance here(?).

 

About fifteen individuals and corporations in this village have been assessed and income tax under the new law.  The amounts vary from a few cents to two hundred dollars, nearly all of which is offset by personal property taxes.

 

Mrs. Rudolph Plecity and children arrived from Wheelock, N.D., here on Thursday last to pay her mother Mrs. Jay Smith, a visit.  Miss Theresa Vlcheck, who has been her guest at Wheelock for several months past accompanied her home.

 

Dr. W.R. McCutcheon attended the West Wisconsin Medical meeting held at Eau Claire on Wednesday of last week.  Dr. says the meeting was an interesting one, about eighty-live members of the profession being present.  Dr. McKittrick was toast-master.  A banquet followed the affair.
