Fischer, Helen (Marriage - 20 Sept. 1945)

Cpl. And Mrs. Berle Barkley, newlyweds, have returned from a week’s wedding trip to southern Wisconsin and Illinois.

The bride is Helen Fischer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Fischer of Neillsville. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Barkley of Humbird.

The wedding took place on Thursday, September 20, at 3 p.m. at the First Lutheran church in Eau Claire. The Rev. A. S. Tanner officiated at the double-ring ceremony.

The bride was attired in a gown with a satin bodice and a high neckline. The gown was styled with a yoke of marquisette and skirt of imported French type marquisette. Her finger tip veil was edged with schanilly lace and had a tiara of orange blossoms. She wore a single strand of pearls and carried a bouquet of white roses.

The maid of honor, Miss Wilma Tubbs of Eau Claire, wore a blue marquisette gown.

The groom was attended by Cpl. Jesse Hart of Black River Falls.

After the ceremony a dinner was given at the Hotel Eau Claire for immediate relatives of the couple.

The bride is a graduate of the Neillsville high school and Bryant and Stratton college at Chicago. For the past two years she has been employed by the Childs company of Chicago.

The groom is a graduate of Black River Falls high school and attended Eau Claire Statee Teachers’ college prior to his entry in the army in December of 1942. He served 26 months overseas. After a 45-day furlough he will report to Ogden, Utah.
