John E. Ring, father of Mrs. C.R. Van Hise, died in Ashtabula, Ohio, last Thursday morning of heart failure. He was 78 years old and had been in quite delicate health the past year. He ledft Madison a few weeks ago to look after business interests in Ohio. Mrs. Ring and Mrs. Van Hise were with him when he died. John E. Ring was an uncle of the Ring brothers of this city (Neillsville, Clark Co., Wis.) He was a man who won success in whatever he undertook, a sincere, honest man, deeply interested in matters philosophical, political and religious. He accumulated an ample fortune and years ago retired from active life, moving from his home in Rock County to Madison, where he made his home with his daughter for some years, but of late spending nearly all his time at Conneaut, Ohio, a few miles from where he lived in boyhood, and where he was married, and where he had relatives who greatly honored him, as all who knew him did, for his kindliness of heart and many admirable traits.
