Wehe, Eugene Joseph Sr. (1 January 1915 - 23 April 2008)

EUGENE JOSEPH WEHE, SR

Eugene J. Wehe Sr., 93, Neillsville formerly of Loyal, died at the Memorial Medical Center, Neillsville Wednesday, April 23, 2008.

Eugene Joseph Wehe was born January 1, 1915, in Clark County, the son of Boneface and Anna (Weber) Wehe. He was raised and received his education in the Loyal area. After his schooling, Eugene farmed in the Loyal area and owned and operated the Night Owl Tavern for many years.

In 1940, Eugene and Alice Schmidtke were united in marriage in Bakerville. After retiring, he moved to Marshfield for a short time and then returned to Loyal. He entered the Neillsville Memorial Home a few years ago and resided there until his death.

He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Loyal.

He is survived by his children, Eugene, Jr. (Carol) Wehe of Alaska, Bill Wehe of Long Beach, CA, Jim Wehe of Anaheim, CA, Mike (Carol) Wehe of Janesville, Duane Wehe of Waupaca, Kathy Niswonger of Marshfield and Margaret (Harry) Scheel of Marshfield; one daughter-in-law, Katherine Wehe of Dorchester; two brothers, Jerome (Millie) Wehe of Loyal and Bernard Wehe of Santa Barbara, CA; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 1991 and seven children, Ronnie, Shirley, Richard, Roger, David, Karen, and Kenneth.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 26, 2008, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Loyal. Fr. Roman Kaiser officiated and burial followed in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Robbie Wehe, Raymond Wehe, Timothy Wehe, Darrel Elpert, David LeFloure and Jason LeFloure.

Cuddie Funeral Home of Loyal assisted the family with arrangements.
