Fischer, Duane J. (21 May 1924 - 18 May 2008)

Duane J. Fischer, 83, of Marshfield died Sunday, May 18, 2008, at the Clark County Health Care Center.

Tentative funeral services will be Thursday, May 22, 2008, at Rembs Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery.

Visitations will be prior to the services on Thursday, May 22, 2008, at Rembs Funeral Home.

Duane J. Fischer, 83, of Marshfield, Wisconsin, died Sunday morning, May 18, 2008, at the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen. Family would like to thank the staff at the center for their loving care for Duane. Prior to entering the nursing facility, he was given loving and very kind care at his home by Barbara Goch.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2008, at Rembs Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Carlson officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery with his nieces and nephews serving as the pallbearers.

Visitations will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Thursday, May 22, 2008, at Rembs Funeral Home.

Duane was born May 21, 1924, in Marshfield to George and Katherine (Zintel) Fischer. He attended Dodge School in the town of McMillan. He was united in marriage to Merle Binning Anderson on July 15, 1961, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Marshfield. Merle died April 27, 2001.

He and his wife, Merle, owned Central Mobile Home Sales and also Parkview Terrace in Marshfield. He was active in the choir at Wesley United Methodist Church and also sang in the Palm Sunday Choir. Duane was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, Noon Rotary Club and a member of the Gideons.

He enjoyed traveling and belonged to the Chequamegon Bird Club.

Duane is survived by two stepchildren, Lynn (Jim) Solsrud of Wisconsin Rapids and Richard Anderson of California; one step-granddaughter and one step-great-grandson. He is further survived by a sister, Arlene Pfahning of Stratford.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Merle; three brothers, Warren, Donald and Stanley Fischer; and a sister Avalon Bolen. Memorials in Duane's memory may be given to Make a Wish Foundation.
