Carl, Clara Matilda Louise (5 Sept. 1893 - 13 Mar. 1945)

Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Carl, age 51 years, of Neillsville, were held at 1:30 Friday afternoon, March 16, at the Jaster funeral home, and at 2 o’clock at St. John’s Lutheran church. The Rev. William A. Baumann, pastor of St. John’s church, officiated. Burial was made in the Neillsville cemetery. Mrs. Carl died on Tuesday, March 13, 1945, at her home on East Sixth street, after an illness of about three months.

The deceased was born Clara Matilda Louise Wieting, daughter of John and Anna Wieting, on September 5, 1893, in Neillsville, and had spent her entire life in this community. She lived with her parents for a time in the town of Pine Valley, and was married there to Alfred Carl on May 16, 1917. Mr. and Mrs. Carl lived for several years on a farm in the town of York, and nine years ago moved to Neillsville, where they have since resided.

Mrs. Carl was a life long member of St. John’s Lutheran church, and throughout her life, until the time of her recent illness, was faithful in her attendance at the church services. She was well liked by a large circle of friends, and will be greatly missed in her church and in the community.

She is survived by her husband and the following children: Victor Carl of Milwaukee; Nelda Carl of St. Louis; Arnold Carl, who resides at home. Her father, John Wieting, also survives, and one brother and two sisters. The brother is Tony Wieting of Neillsville, and the sisters are: Mrs. Erick Lueck of Christie and Mrs. Irvin Carl of Greenwood. Her mother died on April 24, 1944, and two sisters died in infancy.

Pallbearers for the funeral rites were Albert Marg, Edward Marg, Albert Wagner, Arthur Dux and Irvin Braatz. Relatives and friends from out-of-town who were here to attend the services were: Victor Carl, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Carl, Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Carl, Nekoosa; and Miss Mildred Evenson, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The daughter, Miss Nelda Carl, had been here for several weeks, assisting in the care of her mother.
