Gesche, Julie Ann (20 July 1985)

Julie Ann Gesche became the bride of Steven Wayne Meier during an afternoon ceremony on Saturday, July 20. Fr. Joseph Henseler witnessed the ceremony at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Neillsville. Joan Gesche, Appleton, and Lowell Gesche, Neillsville, are parents of the bride. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Meier, of Neillsville.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attired in a white, off the shoulder gown with a sweetheart neckline and draped waist in chiffon, trimmed with Alencon lace accented with pearls. Her matching face framer hat complemented the gown, and she carried a bouquet of fresh gardenias, stephanotis, and ivy.

Bridal attendants wore tea length strapless gowns of azalea pink with matching headpieces and carried bouquets similar to that of the bride. Lisa Gesche, La Crosse was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Sue Gesche, Appleton; Jill Sternitzky, Madison; and Peg Odness, Oshkosh. Flower girls Katie Schoengarth and Beck Wilsmann, both of Neillsville, were accompanied by ringbearer Casey Schoengarth, also of Neillsville.

Tim Barr, Marshfield, was bestman, while groomsmen were Mark Kuechenmeister, Minneapolis, Jon Erpenbach, Stoughton, and Steve Marg, Neillsville. Ushers Roert Wilsmann, Jr. and Mike Schoengarth, both of Neillsville, escorted guests into the church. Wedding photography was by Strack, Neillsville.

A 1982 Neillsville High School graduate, the bride is an advertising representative for the Marshfield News Herald. The groom graduated in 1979 from Neillsville High School and in 1983 from Gateway Technical Institute, Racine. He is an electronic technician for Leick Amusements, Marshfield. After a wedding trip to Maui, Hawaii, the couple will reside at 911 S. Maple Avenue, Marshfield.

Heil, Donna L. (22 June 1985)

Richard E. Kuhn and Donna L. Heil became husband and wife at a 1 o’clock ceremony, June 22. Father David Funk officiated at the nuptials held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Marathon. Rita Heil and the late Walter Heil, Marathon, are parents of the bride. The groom is the son of Ernest and Jean Kuhn, Neillsville.

Providing music for the wedding was Rose Heil, S. Carolyn Heil, Sandra Wedel, Carol Fochs, Theresa and Mary Wiesman.

Given in marriage by her mother, the bride’s personally sewn gown of white satin was accented by a train of alternate ruffles of lace and satin. Her headpiece was a wreath of white roses, and she carried a bouquet of red roses and white stephanotis.

Mrs. Kenneth (Martha) Schulz, of Abbotsford, was matron of honor. Bridal attendants were Mrs. Joseph Schroeder, Oshkosh, and Miss Paulette Heil, Marathon. All were attired in hand sewn turquoise dresses featuring ruffled full skirts. They carried teal roses and baby’s breath.

Bruce Strangfeld, Eau Claire, served the groom as bestman. Paul Kuhn, Wis. Rapids, and Scott Trogner, Whitewater, were groomsmen. Escorting guests were ushers Bill Warren, Neillsville, Bill Heil, Marathon, and Tony Heil, Stratford.

A reception and dance was held at the Labor Temple, Marshfield.

The bride is an employee of Neillsville Memorial Hospital, and the groom is engaged in farming. They will reside at Rt. 1 Neillsville.

Helm, Heidi Ellen (29 June 1985)

Heidi Ellen Helm, Chili, and Christ Allen Schwanz, Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, were married during a 3:30 p.m. ceremony June 29, in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Granton, with the Rev. Melvin Dake of Stevens Point officiating. Parents of the couple are Beverly and Walter Helm of Chili and George Schwanz and Jerri Timmins, of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota.

Music was provided by Mike Betz of Granton, organist; Judi Eckert of Kalamazoo, Michigan, soloist; and Michelle Dresser of Madison and Marilyn Helm of Chili, trumpeters. Emily Helm of Chili was acolyte.

Maid of honor was Camala Tischendorf of Dorchester and Mike Schwanz of Brooklyn Center was bestman. Serving as ushers were Steve Schwanz of Brooklyn Center and Scott Helm of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white crepe gown styled by her mother, which featured a Victorian Chantilly lace bodice, dotted English net yoke, and a chapel train. She wore a picture hat and carried a colonial bouquet of carnations, baby’s breath and daisies. Her attendant wore a floral-patterned tea-length gown of pink tissue satin with dropped waistline and had baby’s breath in her hair. She carried flowers similar to the brides.

A reception, dinner, and dance followed at Fannie’s Supper Club, Neillsville.

The bride is a 1982 graduate of Marshfield Senior High School and received her associate of arts degree from Concordia College, St. Paul, Minnesota in 1984. She graduated this year from St. Paul Technical Institute and is employed at the Minnesota Department of Transportation in St. Paul. Her husband is a graduate of Brooklyn Center High School and graduated this year from Concordia College, St. Paul. He will enter the Fort Wayne Seminary for Lutheran pastors in the fall. Following a wedding trip to Indiana and Michigan, the couple will reside at 1745 Marion, Apartment 4, Roseville, Minnesota, until August, when they will move to Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Hubing, Lori (6 July 1985)

Father Joseph Henseler officiated at the July 6 nuptial ceremony uniting Lori Hubing and Daniel Pekol in marriage, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Neillsville. Adrian and Nancy Hubing, of Neillsville, are parents of the bride. The groom’s parents, also from Neillsville, are Janice and Frank Pekol.

Kris Herbrand, organist, with Jill Counsel, Dawn Thoma and Stacey Holt provided music for the occasion.

Escorted by her father, the bride was attired in a snowflake taffeta gown detailed with imported alencon lace. Her head piece featured lace and pearls and she carried a bouquet of white and pink roses with baby’s breath.

Shelly Hubing, Neillsville, was maid of honor; while Julie Heineck, Neillsville, and Michaela Strangfeld, Marshfield, were bridesmaids. They wore pink and daphne dresses, and carried roses with baby’s breath.

Bestman was Tim Schmidt, of Neillsville; Jeff Brumm, Chicago, and Mike Otzleberger, Neillsville, were groomsmen. Tom Hubing and Kent Pekol, both of Neillsville, served as ushers. Amanda Carl was flower girl and Troy Peterson was ring bearer.

A dinner at the Wildcat Inn was followed by a dance at the Silver Dome Ballroom.

The bride is a 1985 graduate of Neillsville High School. Mr. Pekol, also a graduate of Neillsville High School, is employed by Plautz, Pekol and Haas, Greenwood. The couple reside at 607 W. Fourth St., Neillsville.

Klein, Christine Marie (3 August 1985)

Christine Marie Klein became the bride of Gary Allen Gutenberger during an afternoon ceremony at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Neillsville. Father Joseph Henseler officiated at the nuptials. Parents of the couple are Karen Klein, Neillsville, and Jim Klein, Neillsville; Dorothy Gutenberger, Rt. 1 Granton, and the late Frederick Gutenberger.

Rita Stewart, organist, and vocalist Jane Kuhlman provided musical accompaniment.

Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a white gown of ruffled chiffon knit with a split neckline, Renaissance sleeves, and trimmed with venise lace. Her cathedral train featured scallops and ruffles.

Miss Chris Gurney, Neillsville, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Sherry Kren, Neillsville, Mrs. Barb Jewett, Merrill, Miss Linda Kuechenmeister, Neillsville, and Miss Nancy Hildebrandt, Marshfield. All were attired in raspberry taffeta dresses, and they carried white silk roses with blue, yellow, and raspberry silk carnations. Miniature bridesmaid was Kelly Klein, while Leah Hediger was flower girl, escorted by ringbearer Michael Kren.

Wearing a white tuxedo with tails, the groom was attended by Eric Backaus, bestman; Joey Neville, Jeff Urlaub, Scott Opelt, Al Murphy and Russ Opelt, all groomsmen from Neillsville. They wore grey tuxedos with tails. Guests were escorted into the church by ushers Paul Klein and Rich Reil, both of Neillsville.

Following the wedding ceremony, a reception and dance was held at the American Legion Hall in Neillsville.

The bride is a 1985 graduate of Neillsville High School. The groom, who is a Neillsville graduate, is the proprietor of Gary’s Seldom Inn, Neillsville. A wedding trip will be taken to Hawaii during the coming winter. The couple is at home at 203 West 1st St., Neillsville. Strack Photography, Neillsville provided wedding photos.

Lecy, Linda Mae (29 June 1985)

Linda Mae Lecy and Thomas Paun III are at home in Madison following their June 29 wedding. Parents of the couple are James and karen Lecy, of McFarland, and Janette and Thomas Paun, Jr., of Granton.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a white chapel length gown with a queen Anne neckline, sheer lace sleeves, and a full satin skirt covered with Chantilly lace. Her floor length veil was beaded with sequins and pearls, and she carried a bouquet of red roses and baby’s breath.

Wendy Murkve, of Reedsburg, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Sarah Rowe, of McFarland; Krisan and Renee Paun, of Granton; and Carol Kamps of Appleton. Their full skirted gowns of royal blue satin featured full elbow-length sleeves, and dropped empire waistlines. They carried lace-backed bouquets of blue mums and baby’s breath.

Mark Paun, of Granton, was bestman. Scot Paun of Granton; John Lecy, of McFarland; Ken Bauer, of Grafton; and Allan Cassell, of Louisville, Kentucky were groomsmen. Brian Steinwagner, of Spencer, and Shawn Haver, of McFarland, were ushers.

A reception, dinner, and dance was held at the Great Hall of the Memorial Union, in Madison.

The bride is a 1982 graduate of Mc Farland High School. She is currently attending the UW-Madison and is a summer intern with the Wisconsin Public Service Commission. The groom, who is a 1982 graduate of Loyal High School, attends UW-Madison studying construction administration. He is employed by James Cape and Sons Construction.

Schmidt, Lona Lynn (13 July 1985)

Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal, was the scene of the marriage ceremony uniting Jay Dee Stump and Lona Lynn Schmidt on July 13. Rev. Joseph Kraly officiated at the afternoon service. Norm and Jan Schmidt, Rt. 1, Loyal, are parents of the bride. The groom is the son of Keith and Dawn Stump, Loyal.

Music was provided by organist Ron Gluch and vocalists Sharon Schoonover, Diane Anderegg, and Judy Zettler.

Escorted to the altar by her father, the bride wore a white silk gown with satin bodice accented with pearls and silk short sleeves. The dropped waist flowed in a full skirt, featuring silk flower appliqués, and continued into a cathedral train. Her silk flower and pearl headpiece was complemented by a three quarter length layered veil. A streamlined cascade of cymbidium orchids, stephanotis, pink sweetheart roses, and ivy was carried by the bride.

Janet Stump, River Falls was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Amy Batchelor, Loyal, Jill Stump, River Falls, Lisa Strong, Warrens, and Mrs. Scott (Julie) Schmidt, Madison. All were attired in gowns of pink chiffon over taffeta featuring frilly chiffon sleeves and ruffles flowing down the back. Their cascade bouquets held pink spider mums, stephanotis, pink sweetheart roses and ivy.

Attendants to the groom were Randy Kitzhaber, bestman, of Greenwood; groomsmen Mark Brey and Mike Kitzhaber, both of Greenwood; Chad Schmidt, Loyal; and Scott Schmidt, Madison. Serving as ushers were Greg Pekol, Denver, Colorado, and Donnie Rowley, Loyal.

A reception, dinner, and dance was held at Fannie’s Supper Club, Neillsville, following the ceremony.

The bride is a 1984 graduate of Loyal High School. A 1980 graduate of Greenwood High School, the groom is self-employed as a cattle fitter. Following a wedding trip to Hawaii, the couple will reside at Rt. 1 Greenwood.

Vine, Teresa Mae (13 July 1985)

Teresa May Vine and Terry Lee Opelt became husband and wife during an afternoon ceremony, July 13, performed by Rev. C. Arlene Denzer, at Loyal Methodist Church. Sharon Vine, Granton, and Dale Vine, Granton are parents of the bride. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Opelt, Granton.

Music was provided by Mrs. Charlotte Drescher, organist, and vocalist Mr. Angelo Doud.

Escorted to the altar by her parents, the bride wore a white gown of tiered lace and satin lace edging complemented by a chapel train and hat with finger tip veil. She carried a bouquet of blue daisies, miniature white carnations, pink roses, yellow alstroemeria and baby’s breath.

Maid of honor was Miss Jolene Vine, Granton; Mrs. Susan Moede, Marshfield; Miss Louann Trazel, Marshfield; Mrs. Rhonda Doud, West Burlington, Iowa; and Miss Jerilyn Vine, Granton were bridesmaids. Bridal attendants were attired in blue, off the shoulder gowns featuring deep lace edging at top and bottom. Baby’s breath adorned their hair, and they carried fans of blue daisies, miniature white carnations and pink roses.

Mr. Harold Runge, of Neillsville, served as bestman. Groomsmen were Gale Moede, Marshfield; Ronnie Hediger, Freeport, Illinois; John Wolf, Chili; and Todd Opelt, Neillsville. Guests were escorted into the church by ushers Roger Opelt and Michael Vine.

A reception was held in the lower level of the church, followed by a dance at the Loyal American Legion. Wedding photography was taken by Strack, Neillsville.

A graduate of Granton High School and Mid-State Technical Institute, Wisconsin Rapids, the bride is receptionist at the Marshfield Dental Clinic. The groom is also a graduate of Granton High School and is self-employed. The couple resides at 1506 So. Adams, Marshfield.

Vittallo, Wanda G. (13 July 1985)

Wanda G. Vittallo and Kenneth A. Jennings were joined in marriage on July 13, at Calvary Lutheran Church, Neillsville. Rev. Paul Forde officiated at the 3 o’clock ceremony. Charles E. and Elda J. Marvin, Rt. 2 Colfax, are the parents of the bride. The groom is the son of the late Roy C. and Annabelle Jennings.

Musical selections were performed by Kris Herbrand, organist, and soloist, Alice Kirk, sister of the groom.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attired in a floor length princess gown of aqua-blue satin brocade featuring tulip sleeves. She carried a bouquet of pink roses, white carnations, baby’s breath and asparagus fern.

Leta Lucas, of Marshfield, was maid of honor and she wore a floor length gown of aqua tissue faille, complemented with ruffled sleeves and hemline. Her bouquet consisted of daisies, and baby’s breath with trailing ivy. All gowns were made by the bride. A three-piece navy pin stripe suit was worn by the groom. His bestman, Richard Kopper, of Marshfield, also was attired in a three-piece navy suit.

Attending the wedding were the four daughters and six grandchildren of the groom and the bride’s son and daughter.

Following the ceremony, a reception and dance took place at the home of the newlyweds, at Rt. 1 Neillsville.

A graduate of Neillsville High School, the bride is employed at Modern of Marshfield. The groom graduated from Granton High School and is self-employed at Jennings’ Trucking. A wedding trip has been planned for Wisconsin.

Winkler, Susan Marie (27 July 1985)

Rev. Maynard Stokka officiated during the July 27 nuptial ceremony uniting Susan Marie Winkler and Todd Eric Lewis at Zion American Lutheran Church, Granton. Parents of the couple are Fred and Laurie Winkler, Rt. 2 Granton, and Darol and Margaret Lewis Rt. 1 Neillsville.

Organist Mike Betz, of Granton, and soloist, Mark Lavey, of Farmington, Minnesota, provided the musical accompaniment.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a handmade white satin gown featuring a lace bodice and peplum, accented with seed pearls and embroidered with silver thread. Her silk bouquet held white, magenta, mauve and royal blue roses.

Peggy Olson, of Chili, was maid of honor, with Theresa Winkler and Bobbie Jo Dahlke serving as bridesmaids. They were attired in ruffled, full-skited taffeta gowns with gathered sleeves in hues of magenta, mauve, and royal blue. They carried three long-stemmed roses in the shades of their gowns. Pam Lewis, the groom’s niece from Neillsville, was miniature bride.

The groom’s attendants, wearing light grey tuxedos were Tim Steinbach, best man; groomsmen Steve Winkler, Phillips, and Brad Lewis, Neillsville. Ushers were Glen Lewis, Neillsville, and Scott Winkler, Granton.

Following the wedding, a dinner and dance was held at Fannie’s Supper Club, Neillsville.

A bridal shower was given by the bridesmaids and relatives.

Employed as a typist at Figi’s, Marshfield, the bride is a 1983 graduate of Granton High School. A 1980 graduate of Neillsville High School, the groom is employed as a mechanic at Kuhl Implement, Granton. The couple will make their home on Maple Street in Granton.
