On Saturday morning, July 27, 1946, at a 10 o’clock wedding ceremony in St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Miss Florence Szymanski, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Szymanski of the Town of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of Steve Lato, son of Mrs. Anton Lato, of the Town of Reseburg.

The double ring ceremony and solemn mass was performed by Rev. Francis Piekarski who was assisted by Rev. Francis Przybylski and Rev. Mr. Chester Moczarny. The church was beautifully decorated with flowers and palms.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, was dressed in marquisette gown, with fitted satin bodice and lace trim. It had long pointed sleeves and train. Her full length veil trimmed with lace fell from a beaded tiara crown. She carried a bouquet of white gladiolas, carnations and gardenias, and wore a single strand pearl necklace, a gift of the groom.

Maid of honor was Miss Lorraine Szymanski of Chicago, cousin of the bride. Other bridesmaids were Dolores Wnek, Eleanor Rogalski, Lorraine Strzok, Helen Lato, Helen Wiernasz and Agnes Neiman. They all wore white Colonial style gowns of net over sharkskin, which were laced with red ribbon. They wore matching Colonial style hats and carried Colonial bouquets of red and white gladiolas and carnations. Their necklaces were pearl chokers, gifts of the bride.

Attending the groom were Stephen Lato, brother of the groom, as best man, also Leonard Szymanski, Stanley Arciszewski, Joe Smoczynski, Matt Kopacz and Johnnie Jarosz. The groom and his attendants all wore black tuxedos with white carnation boutonnieres.

The flower girl, Delphine Kalka, cousin of the bride, was dressed identical to the other bridesmaids, and also carried a small Colonial bouquet. The ring bearer, Gerald Szymanski, brother of the bride, was dressed in a black tuxedo with white carnation boutonniere and carried the rings on a white heart shaped satin pillow edged in wide lace ruffle.

After the ceremony, the bride, assisted by the maid of honor, carried a bouquet of mixed white flowers to the altar of the Blessed Virgin.

The reception was held at the P.N.A. Hall.

The bride and groom have both attended the local rural and Thorp High Schools.

The groom is engaged in farming and the bride is employed in the office of the Blue Moon Foods, Inc.

The couple will make their home on the groom’s farm in the town of Reseburg.
