Duval, Raphael (? - 24 July 1944)

A telegram to Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Duval, Granton, advised them that their son, Pvt. Raphael Duval was killed in action on July 24, in France. Pvt. Duval was sent overseas in May of this year, and was a member of an infantry unit. HE was inducted into the army, March 7, 1943 and received his training at Ft. Jackson, S. C., and Atterbury, Ind. The last letter received from Pvt. Duval, was written to his sister, who lives in Marshfield, and was dated July 23, the day before he was killed.

Pvt. Duval is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Duval, Granton; two sisters, Mrs. Paul (Violet) Perklak, Granton, Mrs. Albert (Isabell) Perner, Marshfield, and two brothers, Pfc. Lloyd Duval, somewhere in Italy, and Charles Duval at home.

A requiem high mass was sung at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Bakerville, on Monday, August 14, at 9 a.m.
