Cone, William (15 Aug. 1875 - 2 May 1944)

Tuesday morning, May 2, after several months’ illness, William Cone, 68, died at his home in Greenwood.

Mr. Cone was born in Winona, Minn., the son of William and Frances Cone, on August 15, 1875. His early life was spent in Iowa and Minnesota. In 1896, he came to Clark County, where he has since made his home. After living in various parts of Clark County, he and his wife settled in Greenwood in 1924. He was a mason and decorator by trade. He followed his trade until two years ago.

He was married on September 4, 1907, to Miss Edna Setts of Loyal. To this union was born one daughter, Mrs. Oscar (Gladys) Neeb.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Taylor, at Nichol’s funeral parlor, Loyal, May 4. Hymns were sung by Mrs. Ray Prior, Mrs. Calvin Prior, with Mrs. Wicklund at the organ.

Pallbearers were Bert Young, Frank Duell, George Cleveland, Vern Millard, all of Loyal, Sylvester Plank, Greenwood, Lige Niman, Spencer.

Flowers were carried by Mrs. Sylvester Plank, Mrs. Charles Neuenfeldt, Mrs. Frank Duell.

He was interred in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Loyal.

He is survived by his wife, his daughter, Gladys, three grandchildren and one half brother, Fred Bundy, of Eau Claire.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Anna Huber, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Vogel, daughter, Elsie, Wisconsin Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Vogel, town of Beaver, and Fred Bundy of Eau Claire.
