Mortenson, Charles R. (21 MAR 1870 - 19 FEB 1946)

Charles R. Mortenson, 75, pioneer resident of the Town of Worden (Clark Co., Wis.), passed away at his home in Stanley, on Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 19th, 1946, after a long illness.

Charles Rasmus Mortenson was born in Laaland, Denmark, on March 21, 1870. He came to America at the age of ten years with his parents who settled in New Denmark, Wis. Charles was united in marriage on Oct. 10, 1901 to Thora Jensen. They moved to the Town of Worden in 1904 when they retired and moved to Stanley.

Surviving are his widow, a daughter, Mrs. George Badman of Stanley, four sons, Alvin of Longview, Wash., Sgt. Willard of Memphis, Tenn., Arnold and Raymond of Sheboygan and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church at Stanley on Friday afternoon, rev. J.N. Midtlien officiating. Burial was made in the Oakland Cemetery.
