Oldroyd, Mary (1892 - 13 DEC 1944)

Mrs. Harold Oldroyd passed away Wednesday night, Dec. 13, 1944, at the Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire, where she had been a patient since Sept. 5th. Her health had been reported considerably improved two weeks ago, but a turn to the contrary proved fatal.

Mrs. Oldroyd was the wife of Harold Oldroyd, Secretary of Blue Moon Foods, Inc., of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), who is also an official of June Dairy Products, Inc., of New York. The Oldroyds moved to Thorp early last summer, from Nutley, New Jersey.

Mrs. Oldroyd, who had reached the age of 52 years, was born in Philadelphia, Pa. In her eastern home she had been active as an officer of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Elks and Catholic Daughters of America. During her short time in Thorp she made many friends who will deeply mourn her passing.

Besides her husband Mrs. Oldroyd is survived by four sons, Sgt. Harold Oldroyd, Jr., Detached Engineering Service, Oak Ridge, Tenn., Lt. William Oldroyd, Victorville Army Air Field, California, where he has been assigned following completion of 50 missions as a B-24 Liberator gunner, Topeka, Kan., scheduled to leave for overseas shortly, and Richard, aged 12, at home. All three sons in services were home on emergency furloughs.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. A.M. Muckerheide at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in the village at 9:30 Monday morning and interment was made in St. Bernard’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were: John Dulek, Arthur Soderberg Jr., Arthur Jacque, Casper Haas, Harvey Ebben, and Eugene Brunner.
