Miller, Edward G. (13 AUG 1880 - 04 MAR 1942)

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, March 7, at 2:00 o’clock at the Griebenow Funeral Home (Owen, Wisconsin) for Edward G. Miller, 61, who passed away at his home on Wednesday morning March 4. Death was caused by a heart attack.

The Rev. Wesley Hotchkiss of the Congregational church read the services and burial was made in the Riverside cemetery. The pallbearers were Melvin Erickson, Jewel Bredson, Carl Sorenson, Charles Poppe, Paul Stapel and Alvin Thorson.

Edward George Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Miller, old time settlers in the Town of Longwood, was born on August 13, 1880. On November 29, 1904, he was united in marriage to Bessie Farwell, who passed away on June 10, 1938. To this union were born 11 children, namely, Jean Stapel of Oakdale, Calif., Louis of Withee, Raymond of Longwood, Ralph of Reseburg, Roy of Longwood, Marie Knaack of Longwood, Eva Hakes of Stanley, Edna Lavine of Owen, and Earl and Lorn at home. A daughter, Maudie, died in infancy 27 years ago.

Jean Stapel was unable to attend her father’s funeral because of illness of her son.

Mr. Miller made his home all through his life on a farm in the Town of Longwood on the same farm his father settled on many years ago.

Mr. Miller leaves to mourn his passing ten children, 13 grandchildren, three brothers, Henry of Kellogg, Idaho, Orin of Longwood, John of Newport, R I., and one sister, Laura of St. Petersburg, Fla., and a host of grieved friends.

Among those from away who attended the funeral were Mrs. Ella Sykes and Mr. and Mrs. Orris Fisher of Melrose; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Miller of Stanley; Mr. and Mrs. Bert Spatford and family of Starks; and Mrs. Leo Buchegar and three sons of Butternut.
