Dobrzynski, Katherine (11 NOV 1868 - 8 SEP 1944)

Mrs. Katherine Dobrzynski passed away at the Owen hospital on Friday, Sept. 8, 1944, where she had been taken after a paralytic stroke suffered on Sunday, Sept. 3 at her home.

She had reached the age of 75 years, 9 months and 29 days.

Katherine Pietras was born in Poland on Nov. 11, 1868. In 1888 she was united in marriage to Valentine Dobrzynski, the couple coming to America the following year, 1889, and locating in Pittsburgh, Pa. In the year 1900 they came as one of the first settlers to a farm three miles east and three and one-half miles north of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.). Together they labored on their eighty acres, which was then but wilderness, and cleared it to a beautiful farm, which will be remembered as one of the most outstanding in that vicinity.

1938 found Mr. and Mrs. Dobrzynski retiring to the village, nevertheless, Mrs. Dobrzynski could never be found idle. She was a great flower lover which kept her busy caring for many beautiful varieties. Those who knew her well will remember her as a meek, kind hearted, hard working person.

She was a member of the Rosary Ladies for many years.

Left to mourn are her husband, two sons, Wallace and Andrew Dobrzynski of Thorp; three daughters, Mrs. Charles (Stella) Weber of Chicago, Mrs. John (Louise) Szymanski of Thorp, Mrs. Wally (Sophie) Kozlowski of Owen; one sister, Mrs. Bosinski of Pittsburgh; two brothers, Ray and James Pietras of Toledo, Ohio; one granddaughter and eleven grandsons. One daughter, Mrs. Louis (Eleanor) Ternes, preceded her in death two years ago.

Funeral services were held at St. Hedwig’s Church on Monday morning at 10:00 o’clock, Rev. Francis Piekarski, Rev. Francis Brockman of Abbotsford, and Rev. Jerome Komla of Junction were the officiating priests.

Pallbearers were: Jos. Czernicki, John Stroinski, George Jakowicz, Anton Raticzyk, John Kozlowski and John Zdrojkowski.

Those from out of town attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Wally Kozlowski and sons Wally Jr. and garland, and John Kozlowski, of Owen; Louis Ternes of Minneapolis and Mrs. Charles Weber of Chicago.

Hello,

This is my husband's great grandmother. I am researching some family history and I am happy to find this available online.

Thank you! Sarah
