Hoops, Ervin P. (4 Aug. 1897 - 17 May 1978)

Spencer, Wis. - Ervin P. Hoops, 80, of 306 E. Clark St. Spencer, died Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer. The Rev. William Ruhbusch will officiate. Burial will be in West Spencer Cemetery.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at Rux Funeral Home in Spencer.

Mr. Hoops was born Aug. 4, 1897 in Wayside, Brown County. He received his education in Spencer and on Nov. 12, 1919 he married Esther Dittman there. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1969.

He was employed by the town of Spencer for 30 years and later for United Building Centers, Spencer. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, James of Milwaukee and Lloyd, Route 2, Spencer; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Lela Molle of Colby and Mrs. Frank (Elsie) Marten, Elgin, Ill. He was predeceased by six brothers, four sisters and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Hoops.
