Colby, Frank (1860? - 10 MAR 1944)

Word has been received of the death at 83 of Frank E. Colby, which occurred at his home in Ocala, Florida on March 10th, 1944.

Mr. Colby came to Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) in the late 1880’s and worked for some time at his trade of carpenter. A few years later, in partnership with his brothers Lynn and Dan, he owned and operated a saw, lumber, feed and flour mill in Thorp.

In 1911 he sold his interest in the mill and moved to Florida, where he has since resided.

Mr. Colby is survived by his wife and three daughters. A son Ernest having died in Dec. 1918. He also took the place of father to two orphans, a niece, Stella Weaver, and a nephew, Walter Colby, Wis.

Mr. Colby was a trustee of the local Methodist Church and also superintendant of the Sunday School when it was organized, and for many years thereafter, while he resided in Thorp.
