Anderson, Albert Edwin (29 June 1855 - 14 Jan. 1944)

Masonic funeral services for Albert Edwin Anderson, 58, of Haugen, Wis., were conducted Monday afternoon, January 17 at the Congregational church. The Rev. George Longenecker was the officiating pastor. A friend of the family, Antone Hauger, of Black River Falls conducted the Masonic service. Burial took place in the Neillsville Cemetery.

Mr. Anderson passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester, Minn., on January 14, after two weeks’ illness following an operation.

He was born in Neillsville June 29, 1885, the son of the late August and Augusta Anderson. He attended school here, and later the school of telegraphy in St. Paul. He held a position as depot agent with the Chicago and Northwestern Railway Company in Neillsville, Roberts, Bayfield and River Falls. He was later associated with the Bell Grain Company of Milwaukee, and lived in Madison. He then entered the grain brokerage business, in a company know as the Algona Grain Company of Algona, Iowa, and remained there until he retired in 1943, and took up his residence at Haugen, Wis.

While still at Neillsville, he was married to Miss Tilla Seamanson, whose parents resided in the town of Pine Valley. Seven children were born to this union. Twin children died infancy, and one daughter, Mrs. Bernice Fletcher, passed away a few years ago. He was later married at Algona, Iowa to Miss Ethel Morrison, who survives. Four children also survive there father. They are: Alice, a teacher in Chicago Heights, Ill.; Lyle of Melrose, Wis.; Margaret, Mrs. Jack Salick, Milwaukee; and Isabel of the U. S. WACS, stationed in North Carolina. Two sister and two brothers also survive: Miss Elsie of Minneapolis; Esther, Mrs. Henry Rottjer, Loyal; Frank of Hammond, Wis.; and Victor of Neillsville. There are three grandchildren.

Those from away who attended the funeral include: Mrs. Jack Salick, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Anderson, Melrose; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Anderson, Hammond; Miss Elsie Anderson, Minneapolis, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rotter, Loyal; Luke Linan, Joe Howe, Ralph Miller, Mark Weaver, William Gerring and Victor Steil, all of Algona, Iowa. The daughter, Alice was ill and unable to travel, and the daughter, Isabel, who is in the WACS, was unable to come.

Floral tributes were beautiful and spoke the high esteem in which Mr. Anderson was held by his friends and business associates.

Pallbearers were Elmer Anderson, Gus Deutsch, William Whaley, O. E. Waing, Arthur Terhune and H. A. Kintzele, Mrs. James Paulus, Mrs. George Prochazka and Mrs. Emma Zimmer had charge of the flowers.
