Mary E. Miller

Mary E. Miller, 59, of Marshfield, Wisconsin, died Monday, March 17, 2008, at Saint Joseph's Hospital with her family at her side.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2008, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Peter Manickam principal celebrant and with the Rev. Don Meuret. Catherine Heuer and the faculty at MACS will provide the music for the services.

Visitations will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday, both at the church.

There will be a Sacred Heart Parish Council of Catholic Women rosary service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Mary was born in Marshfield to Richard and Marie (Schuh) Nikolai on Sept. 19, 1948. She graduated from Colby High School and Medford Teachers College and finally graduated from University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with a BS in teaching. On July 13, 1968, Mary married Steven G. Miller in Colby, Wis.

Mary taught at Rib Lake elementary and then at St. Mary's Parochial School in Colby until 1977, when they moved to Marshfield. She then taught at Sacred Heart School in 1978 until it became the Marshfield Area Catholic School (MACS) system, where she taught the third grade.

Mary loved the outdoors, walking, floral gardening, but most of all, her children in school whom she taught. Her dedication to the children was obvious and her love to everyone shined.

Mary was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was involved in Marshfield community affairs.

Her passion was her five grandchildren, Jocelyn, Zachary, Olivia, Kaylan and Adeleah.

She is survived by her loving husband Steven; children, Scott R. (fiancée, Lalaine Felipe) of Renton, Wash., and Renee (Jason) Nest of Plover; and five grandchildren. She is further survived by her parents, Richard and Marie Nikolai of Colby; three brothers, Dick (Linda) Nikolai of Appleton, Mark (Bonnie) Nikolai of Stevens Point and Todd (Junitta) Nikolai of Unity.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in honor of Mary's name are encouraged to do so to the MACS Development office.

School for all MACS students Pre-K thru 12th grade are canceled Monday for the funeral services for Mary.
