Catlin, Eleanor (11 OCT 1941)

On Saturday morning, October 11, 1941, at 9:30 o’clock at the Baptist Parsonage in Stillwater, Minn., Miss Eleanor Catlin, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Catlin, became the bride of Mr. Marvin Engevold, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Engevold of Osseo. The Rev. J. R. Dickers performed the ceremony.

The bride’s gown was white satin princess style, with gathered bodice and lace yoke. Seed pearls trimmed both her dress and halo-effect head dress, from which hung her finger-tip veil of white net edged with lace. Her bouquet was of pink roses and white carnations.

Miss Marjorie Engevoll was the bridesmaid, and was attired in blue organdy, worn over satin, white lace trim. Her bouquet was made up of pink roses. Mr. Floyd Tompter attended the groom as best man.

A six o’clock dinner was served at the home of the bride’s parents to members of the bridal party and thirty-five immediate relatives. A large wedding cake, beautifully decorated, graced the bride’s table and a white wedding bell, blue and white streamers and garden flowers were used as decorations for the home.

The waitresses were Misses Dorothy Beaver and Louise Beaver, Dorothy and Fern Catlin, cousins of the bride.

Mrs., Engevold attended the Loyal High School and for the past four years has been employed in Eau Claire. The groom is engaged in farming at Osseo, where they will make their home after Nov. 1.

Guests from away were Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Engevold and daughters Irene and Beatrice and Mr. and Mrs. Jarle Engevold, Osseo; Mr. and Mrs. Ted Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Rossow, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Fjelstad and daughters and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Nordstrom, all of Eau Claire; Misses Melva Catlin and Esther Guzman, Stevens Point; Miss Gwendolyn Catlin and Sam Bruckert, Marshfield.

A wedding dance and shower were held at the Silver Dome, Neillsville, Saturday night and was attended by a large crowd of relatives and friends.
