Local Happenings in Colby and Vicinity - Jan. 12, 1950

James Foster is at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital.

Fred Wolk returned from the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital.

Mrs. George Steinwand returned from the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. Larry Koffarnus have moved to Colby from Owen.

A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Weix at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital, January 6th.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Diedrich at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital January 9th.

Alphons Gries, formerly of Colby, and Cherokee, now at Cable, Wis., visited in Colby Tuesday.

Miss Hildegarde Rankel left on Thursday for Chicago where she will attend Seton’s Beauty Culture School.

Mrs. C. R. Whitney and Paul Smith left for Chicago Tuesday night to attend the funeral services for their brother in law.

Jimmie Johnson and family have moved here from Dorchester and are living in the Rankel house on Church street. Mr. Johnson recently sold his hotel in Dorchester, Wis.

Miss Dolores Martin, Mr. and Mrs. John Fritz and Mrs. Michael Martin, all of Winona, Minn., spent New Year’s Day with the latter’s son in law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Weix, and family.

Floyd, Darrell and Claude Sossaman of Milwaukee drove up Saturday evening and returned Sunday morning with Mrs. Darrel Sossaman and baby daughter, Kathleen, who had spent the past three weeks here.

Ewald and Herbert Wiersig and Walter Runzheimer attended a Lutheran Laymen’s meeting at Trinity auditorium in Wausau on Monday evening at which the national president of the Lutheran Laymen’s League was the guest speaker.

Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Runzheimer and children attended the installation service and reception of Mr. Runzheimer’s brother, Rev. Harold G. Parsch, who was installed as associate pastor of St. James Lutheran church in Shawano, Wis., last Sunday evening. Of the many pastors present, nine assisted Rev. W. A. Uttech in the rites of installation. The sermon was delivered by Rev. J. H. Nau, vice president of the North Wis. district of Lutheran churches. Since his graduation from Concordia Theological Seminary, St. Louis, Mo., in 1939, Rev. Parsch had served congregations in Detroit, Michigan.

Rev. and Mrs. Franz Paul Puhlmann entertained the Evangelical and Reformed Ministerial Group at the parsonage last Tuesday afternoon. Those present included the Rev. Mr. and Mrs. John C. Klingeberger of west side, Greenwood, the Rev. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Olm of Stratford, the Rev. Mr. and Mrs. Michell Whiterabbit and family of Black River Falls, the Rev. Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Fresenberg and family of Greenwood and the Puhlmanns, the Rev. Mr. and Mrs. Benj. Stucki and the Rev. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Dechant of Neillsville, and the Rev. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Heutzenroeder of Athens were prevented from coming.
