Thayer, Alice (4 June 1868 - 26 April 1932)

Mrs. Wm. Thayer Buried Friday

Alice Laure Thayer, wife of Wm. J. Thayer, passed away at her home five miles west of Abbotsford Tuesday morning April 26, the result of an acute heart attack.

Mrs. Thayer, whose maiden name was Alice Dutcher, was born June 4, 1868, near Loyal, two years after John Graves made the first settlement where Loyal is now located and two years before the town of Beaver was incorporated. She was the first white child born in what is now the town of Beaver, Clark County.

She was united in marriage to Wm. Thayer at Loyal, Wis., August 25, 1889 and to this union five children were born, one dying in infancy.

Surviving, besides the husband are two daughters and two sons; Mrs. Ernest Muhlenhaupt (Alva) of Milwaukee, who has been at home for some time; Mrs. Ewald Thiede (Josie) of Granton; Perry Thayer of Winona, Minn., and Edward Thayer of Albuquerque, N. M. She also leaves ten grandchildren, three sisters and one brother: Mrs. Geo. Simmons, Miles City, Mont., Mrs. Joe Cline, Portland, Ore., Mrs. Fred Gross, Loyal and William Dutcher. Rapid River, Mich.

After living for a number of years in Granton where Mr. Thayer conducted a hardware store, they moved to Abbotsford, and about three years ago following the death of Mr. Thayer’s brother, they located on the latter’s farm where they have since resided.

Funeral services will be held (this) Friday afternoon in the Presbyterian church in Abbotsford, with the Rev. L. C. Smith officiating. The local chapter of the Order of Eastern Star is in charge of the arrangement.

Burial will be made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery.
