Buchholz, Warren (1922? - 4 APR 1943)

Pvt. Warren E. Buchholz, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Buchholz, Owen, R.F.D. 2, died Sunday in an army hospital at Camp Adair, Wash., at 9:20 p.m., according to a message received from Lt. J. Johnston of the Army Air Support base. His death resulted from injuries received from a crash of a training plane. His companion Pvt. Alvin L. Baer of Akron, Ohio, was killed in the crash.

The body, accompanied by an escort will arrive in Owen Saturday, and funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon, from the German Lutheran Church at Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) at 2 o’clock, the Rev. Schedler officiating. Burial will take place in Pine Hill Cemetery, north of Curtiss.

Pvt. Buchholz was inducted into the army service, Nov. 16, 1942, and was stationed at Fort Lewis, Wash., until about three weeks ago when he was transferred to Corvallias, Wash., for further training. He was a member of the 116th Observation Squadron.

He graduated from the Owen High School with the class of 1941, and was a young man of high character. Besides his parents he leaves to mourn, two brothers, Robert and Karl, and three sisters, Fern at home, and Mrs. Jos. Daniels, Walla Walla, Wash., and Mrs. John Maldouis, Owen.
