Behringer, Clarence (14 Oct 1903 - 20 FEB 1943)

Clarence Behringer, 39, a resident of the town of Green Grove (Clark Co., Wis.) was fatally injured Saturday afternoon, when he slipped and fell from the roof of a barn on his farm, four and one half miles southeast of Owen (Clark Co.).

The injured man was taken at once to the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital, where it was disclosed that his back was broken, and other spinal injuries had caused him to become paralyzed. His death occurred shortly after noon Sunday.

Mr. Behringer had started to reshingle his barn, and the work had progressed until he had it about finished, and it is believed that he slipped on thee ice and fell, striking on his head and shoulders, breaking his back, when reaching the ground.

He is survived by a wife and three sons.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon from the Griebenow Funeral Home (Owen, Wisconsin), the Rev. Wm. Sommers of Eau Claire officiating, and interment took place in the Greenwood Cemetery.

The bereaved family have the heartfelt sympathy of their numerous relatives and friends at this time.

Clarence L. Behringer of route two, Owen, who died Sunday, Feb. 21, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, as the result of injuries received when he fell from the roof of his barn a week ago Saturday afternoon, was born on Oct. 14, 1903, in Manitowoc Co., Wis., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Behringer. He came to Clark Co., where he has since made his home, at the age of four.

On July 20, 1926, he was united in marriage with Lorinda Smith at Greenwood, to which union three sons were born, namely, George, Gerald and Donald.

Funeral services were held at the Griebenow Funeral Home (Owen, Wisconsin) on Wednesday, Feb. 24, the Rev. Sommers officiating, with interment being made in the Greenwood Cemetery. Swan Peterson, Silas Arneson, Helmer Gustafson, John Burtard, Frank Jutunen and Ed Beck acting as pallbearers.

Besides his family, Mr. Behringer leaves to mourn his untimely loss, his father, two brothers, Norman and Hugo of Owen; six sisters, Mrs. Ray (Eva) Vogel of Wis. Rapids; Mrs. Carl (Amanda) Wetzel of Owen, Mrs. Robert (Flora) Yondra of Beloit, Mrs. Hugo (Caroline) Groell, Mrs. Arthur (Clara) Miller and Mrs. Richard (Minnie) Herman of Manitowoc.
