Hemmy, Arthur R. (23 Feb. 1916 - 21 Dec. 1955)

Arthur R. (Bud) Hemmy, Jr., a former resident of Colby, Wisconsin but who made his home in Juneau the past six years, died in a Beaver Dam hospital at 9:30 o’clock Wednesday morning at the age of 39 years, a heart attack, suffered three weeks ago, being the cause of his death. Funeral services will be held at Juneau on Saturday morning at 9:00 o’clock.

Mr. Hemmy was born in Juneau on Febraury 23, 1916, and came to Colby with his parents when a child. He attended St. Mary’s School and graduated from Colby High School. He continued his education at the State Teachers’ College at Stevens Point. He married Miss Aylce Elliot of Spencer August 17th, 1940.

While in Colby, Hemmy was employed at the Security State Bank and also served as secretary of the Colby Chamber of Commerce and treasurer of St. Mary’s Catholic church. He left Colby to become secretary of the Midland Union Mutual Insurance Company at Juneau which position he held at the time of his death. He was well and favorably known in Colby, and, being of a congenial and friendly disposition, had many friends here who are sorry to hear of his untimely departure.

Surviving are his wife; one son, Richard, age 14; one daughter, Marie, age 9; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hemmy, Sr., of Colby; a brother, Robert of Juneau and a sister, Mrs. Vernon (Wanda) Ellis of Arena.
