Wucherpfenig, Ferdinand F. (23 Feb. 1880 - 12 Apr. 1955)

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at Zion Lutheran church for Ferdinand F. Wucherpfenig who died Tuesday at 2:30 P.M. of a heart attack at his home in Colby, Wisconsin at the age of 75 years. Rev. O. Hoffmann will officiate. Internment will be made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. The body is reposing at the Lulloff Funeral Home.

Mr. Wucherpfenig settled in St. Paul, Minn., at the age of three, coming here with his parents from Germany where he was born on February 23, 1880. At the age of eight, they came to Wisconsin and settled on a farm in the town of Frankfort. His marriage to Eleanor Fitzel took place in the town of Frankfort in February, 1926. In 1945, they retired and moved to Colby where he lived until his death.

Surviving besides his widow are one daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Rose) Andrew of Colby, one step-son, Adam Fitzel of Colby and one step-daughter, Mrs. Elmer (Mary) Schmidt of Marshfield. Also surviving are ten grand children and the following brothers and sisters: Gust Wucherpfenig of Stratford, Frank and Fred Wucherpfenig of Forman, N. Dak., Mrs. Sam (Augusta) Yelke of Colby and Reinhold Wucherpfenig of Loyal. One step-son, four sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.

Like all our early settlers, Mr. Wucherpfenig was of an industrious and congenial disposition, honest in all his dealings. His many friends will miss his kindly smile and friendly greeting.
