Theilig, Minnie (4 May 1888 - 9 Jan. 1955)

Mrs. George Theilig died at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital Sunday morning at 5:30 A.M. at the age of 66 years, a heart ailment being the cause of death. Funeral services were held at the Zion Lutheran church Wednesday afternoon, Rev. O. Hoffmann officiating and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Calvin Schulz, Kenneth Schulz, Lewis Schulz, Lee Smart, Alvin Thieme and Carl Theilig, nephews and grand sons of the deceased. Flowers were in charge of Jeanette Mengel, Darlene Theilig, Janice Winkel and Laverna Thieme, all grand daughters.

Mrs. Thielig, formerly Minnie Schulz, was born in the town of Colby on May 4, 1888. She married George Theilig on May 15, 1907, in St. Paul’s Lutheran church, Green Grove. After their marriage, they moved on a tract of land four and one-half miles west of Colby, and by hard and diligent work, built a fine farm. In October, 1933, they retired from active farm work, because of the health of Mrs. Theilig, and moved to the city of Colby, Wis. Mrs. Theilig had been ill with diabetes for 15 years and with a heart ailment for three months.

Surviving are her husband; five children, William Theilig of the town of Colby, Mrs. John (Ella) Mengel of Ogema, Mrs. Art (Alvina) Thieme of Owen, Mrs. Alex (Clara) Winkel of Owen and Walter Theilig of the town of Colby; two brothers, Ernst Schulz of the town of Colby and Gottlieb Schulz of Spencer; one sister, Mrs. Anna Smart of Colby; 20 grand children and three great grand children.

A daughter, Meta, died at the age of two years and 10 months and a brother, George W. Schulz, died on December 12, 1954.

Mrs. Theilig will be remembered as a good Christian who put her duties and the care of her family above all social affairs, and, being of a kindly and friendly disposition, had many friends who will miss her.

Out of town people here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. John Mengel of Ogema, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Thieme and family and Mr. and Mrs. Alex Winkel of Owen, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Thieme of Riplinger, Mr. and Mrs. Lea Smart of Abbotsford, Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Mielke of Wausua, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Schillinger and Walter Kanneman of Edgar, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Boss of Curtiss, Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Bauer of Greenwood, G. C. Schulz and daughter of Spencer, Jeanette Mengel of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
