Scheer, Joanne Marie (Marriage - 29 May 1954)

Miss Joanne Marie Scheer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orland Scheer of Spencer, and Kenneth Lee Kasper, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kasper of Unity, exchanged marriage vows Saturday, May 29th, at 1:30 o’clock in St. John’s Ev. Lutheran church, North Spencer, Rev. R. J. Scholz officiating at the services. The bride was given in marriage by her father. During the ceremony, Miss Joan Dehn of Menomonie sang "O Perfect Love" and "The Lord’s Prayer." Miss Marlene Toltzman was the organist.

The waltz-length bridal gown of nylon net with lace inserts over satin, had a strapless bodice with a heart-shaped shower bouquet of red roses and white carnations. Her lace-trimmed veil was caught to a tiara of sequins and pearls.

Miss Annette Shelley of Spencer, the maid of honor, donned an orchid waltz-length frock, the ruffled skirt topped with a lace bodice and jacket. White and tinted carnations formed her colonial bouquet.

Dressed like the maid of honor were the two bridesmaids, Miss Janice Seefeldt of Riplinger, a cousin of the bride, in yellow, and Miss Myrna Laabs of Ashland, a cousin of the groom, in mint green.

Jerome Kasper of Unity was his brother’s best man. A brother of the bride, Wayne Scheer, of Spencer, and a cousin of the groom, Gerald Klessig of Colby, Wisconsin were groomsmen, and ushers were Harold Stange of Loyal and Raymond Miller of Colby, cousins of the bride and groom, respectively.

Attired in a miniature replica of the bride was her little sister, Sheryl Ann Scheer of Spencer who was flower girl. David Zimmerman of Loyal, a cousin of the bride, served as ringbearer.

The bride’s and groom’s mothers wore gowns of rose and blue, respectively, and each had a corsage of pink and white carnations.

A supper was served in the church basement for 175 guests and the reception was held at the bride’s parents’ home.

Mr. Kasper, who was graduated from Colby High School and also attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering, is employed as a draftsman for the American Paper and Lace Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His bride, who attended Spencer High School, has been employed by the Cheesemakers Manufacturing Company.

Coming from out of town for the wedding were guests from Milwaukee, Loyal, Dorchester, Ashland, Riplinger, Unity, Colby, New London, Collins, New Holstein, Marshfield, and Chicago.

The couple made a wedding trip to Iowa and Minnesota and were at home after June 2nd at 2908 Highland Blvd., Milwaukee, Wis.
