Dessloch, Anna Magdalene (8 Oct. 1875 - 22 Feb. 1953)

Mrs. Anna Magdalene Dessloch died at her home in Colby after a lingering illness Sunday, Feb. 22. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the First Evangelical and Reformed church in Colby, Wis., Rev. J. W. Grether and Rev. Edwin Becker officiating, and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Ralph Jannene, Frank Hunt, John Stettler, John Marx, Adam Fitzel and Roland Roth.

Mrs. Dessloch was found dead in her home Sunday morning sitting at the telephone, by her son, Nathan. It is believed that she either was about to answer a telephone call or phone someone. Nathan called at the home of his mother Sunday morning, and, on finding the house locked, called in Francis Steinwand, chief of police, and the two entered the house with another key. They were fortunate in being able to push out the key in the lock.

Mrs. Dessloch was born in the town of Rhine, Sheboygan county, on October 8th, 1875, thus reaching the age of 77 years, four months and 14 days. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Gessert who were born in Germany. She married Jacob H. Dessloch in the town of Rhine on April 16, 1899. Immediately after their marriage, they moved to the town of Beaver, Clark county, and operated a farm for 21 years and then moved to the city of Colby, Wis.

Surviving are two sons, Nathan L. Dessloch of Colby and Dr. E. M. Dessloch of Prairie du Chien, and two grand children, Sharon and Gail Dessloch. Her husband, J. H. Dessloch, preceded her in death on February 19th, 1936, and a daughter, Mrs. Stella Hintz preceded her in death on October 16th, 1949.

She was a faithful member of the First Evangelical and Reformed church, taught Sunday school for 10 years and was a member of the choir for many years. She died at 7:00 o’clock. A. M. Just with the awakening life of a new day she went to sleep like a tired child, surely a most fitting time for a pure spirit to take its flight heavenward. Through all the vissitudes and sorrows that she met in the way, her faith in God never wavered and she continued to keep her cheerful disposition until her death.

Out of town relatives here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Emil Gessert of Sheboygan Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Laack, Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Gessert, Edwin J. Gessert, Jr., Rueben Gessert, Mrs. Arthur Gerber and Mrs. R. A. Kuleu, all of Plymouth, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Villineuve and son of La Crosse, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Arndt of Kohler, Roland J. Kuhn of Elkhart Lake, Mrs. Eldon Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Ritter, Mrs. Walter Ritter, Mrs. Gust Nagel, all of Sheboygan, Dr. and Mrs. R. V. Kuhn of Oshkosh, Lenard Hintz of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
