Schonfeldt, Sylvia (Marriage - 24 Oct. 1953)

Miss Sylvia Schonfeldt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Schonfeldt of Colby, became the bride of William Joseph Bogumill, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leon F. Bogumill of Thorp, when she was given in marriage by her father at a ceremony performed in St. Mary’s Catholic church in Colby Saturday morning, Oct. 24, at 9:00 o’clock, Rev. Frank Brickl officiating.

The bride was attended by Miss Frances Pozydell of Madison as maid of honor and Miss Shirley Radlinger and Miss Marie Krause, both of Marshfield, as bridesmaids. The groom was attended by Richard Polnaszek of Milwaukee, cousin of the groom, as best man and by Gene Greenwood of Marshfield and Ray Kowaczkowski of Thorp, as groomsmen. Ushers were Bernard Frenette of Thorp, brother-in-law of the groom, and Art Schonfeldt and Melvin Schonfeldt of Marshfield, brothers of the bride. Sharon Schonfeldt of Marshfield, niece of the bride, served as flower girl.

The bride was attired in a gown of nylon net and satin skirt that extended into a long train. The bodice featured a Queen Anne collar and long sleeves trimmed with seed pearls. Her finger-tip veil was secured to a Juliet cap embroidered with seed pearls.

The maid of honor wore a gold floor-length gown featuring a velveteen bodice and jacket with a nylon net skirt. She wore a lace and velveteen headpiece and carried a lace fan-shaped bouquet of yellow, white and rust mums. The bridesmaids’ dresses were in mulberry and emerald green, styled identical to that of the maid of honor. Their headpieces and flowers were also similar. The flower girl was dressed in a white dress styled like that of the maid of honor. Her headpiece and bouquet also were miniature replicas.

A wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride and dinner and a reception were held at the V.F.W. club rooms in Colby, Wis.

The bride is a graduate of the Marshfield High School and the groom is a graduate of Thorp High School and attended Superior State College of Superior.
