Voelker, Virginia Ann (Marriage - 19 Sept. 1953)

Miss Virginia Ann Voelker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Voelker, and Leo Stecker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stecker, were united in marriage at a ceremony performed in the First Evangelical and Reformed church in Colby Saturday afternoon, Sept. 19, Rev. V. O. Grosshuesch reading the marriage ceremony. Mrs. Vernon Sommers of Curtiss was matron of honor and Miss Gloria Doud of Duluth, Mrs. Darrel Loos and Miss Emilie Loos of Colby were bridesmaids. The groom was attended by Vernon Sommers, Stanley Voelker, Darrel Loos and Mike Scheffler. Sandra Ramker, niece of the bride, served as flower girl.

The bride was attired in a white satin gown, trimmed with sequins and rhinestones, with a nylon yoke. Her veil was of white nylon net, edged with lace. Her bouquet consisted of an orchid surrounded with baby mums. The matron of honor wore a white strapless gown of nylon, net over taffeta with a peplum and a jacket. Her bouquet consisted of pink and white carnations with lilies. The bridesmaids wore dresses similar to that of the matron of honor but in blue, green and coral, respectively. Their bouquets consisted of a lily surrounded by yellow and white carnations.

A reception was held at the Cherokee hall. The floral arrangements in the church and hall were under the supervision of Mrs. John Coates, a friend and neighbor of the bride.

The couple left on a wedding trip to Northern Minnesota and will be at home after October 1st in Colby where the groom is employed by the Frome Dairy.

Out of town people here for the wedding included Mrs. Susie Clodfelter of Passedena, Calif., who entertained the guests with piano and piano accordion music, Mrs. M. L. Nordhal of Hixton, Mrs. Harry Fisher, Mrs. Neal and Donald Duxbery and Mrs. Emil Jelinek of Black River Falls, Mrs. Harold Van Gorden of Alma Center, Mr. and Mrs. Osthured of Superior, Mrs. Mary Ackerman, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Gosse and Mr. and Mrs. Archie Ackerman of Curtiss, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Stecker of New Richmond, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Voelker of Chili, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Elstrom of New Bristol, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Voelker of Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Voelker and family of Pittsville, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Rose of Unity, Kenneth Callahan and David Thoen of Duluth, Minn., and many relatives and friends of Colby, Wis.
