Hafemann, Harold (23 Sept. 1917 - 29 Nov. 1952)

Harold Hafemann, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Hafemann of Colby, died in Chicago of a heart attack at the age of 35 years. He was unmarried. The body will lie in state at the Lulloff Funeral Home where funeral services will be held this Saturday afternoon, Rev. O. Hoffmann officiating, and internment will be made in the Marshfield cemetery.

Harold Hafemann was born in Colby, Wisconsin on September 23, 1917. He was a veteran of World War II and served in both the European and Pacific war theatres.

Surviving are his parents of Colby; two brothers, Lyle Hafemann of Colby and Calvin Hafemann of Sturgeon Bay; four sisters, Mrs. Elmer (Milda) Holl of Milwaukee, Mrs. Harold (Myron) Cowe of Milwaukee, Mrs. Gladys Rogney of Green Bay and Mrs. Raymond (Aloha) Hoefs of Green Bay; three nieces and three nephews.

Funeral services for Harold Hafemann, who died of a heart attack in Chicago as reported last week, were held at the Lulloff Funeral Home Saturday afternoon, Rev. O. Hoffmann officiating, and internment was made in the Marshfield cemetery.

Both members of the American Legion post of Colby and the V.F.W. post of Colby took part in the military rites. Pall bearers were Orville Baumgart, Homer Smith, Fritz Baldes, George Kowalk, Dr. F. A. Weix and Alvin Krueger.

The firing squad consisted of Howard Rannow, Mike Steiber, Merlin Schjoneman, Ed Allmann, Herb Hederer, Joe Liberty, Ambrose Sterzinger.

Color guards and color bearers were Arnold Rannow, Norbert Diedrich, Angus Lamont, Jr., Junior Tesmer, Norman Augustine, Frank Goeltz, Jr., Frank Goeltz, Sr.

The honorary squad was composed of Arnold Strathman, Tony Schuh, Clyde Hubing, Norman Orth, Carl Sabler, Ed Frome.

Fingerprints and army records combined to identify the body of Harold Hafemann who died of a heart attack on November 29 on a Chicago street while on his way to his rooming place from his place of employment in that city. His Chicago employer and landlord were not aware of his death and concluded that he had gone temporarily to Colby to visit his parents.
