Buettner, Clara J. #2 (7 JUL 1918 - 4 JAN 2008)

Clara Jean Buettner, 89, Neillsville, formerly of Hackensack, Minn., died on Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, in the Memorial Health and Rehabilitation Center, Neillsville. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Monday, Jan. 7, at the Living Hope Evangelical Free Church, Neillsville. The Rev. Steven Wentz officiated. Music was provided by Kathy Meshnick, organist. Interment was in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Casket bearers were Ernst Hediger, Crispin Hediger, Bill Montgomery, Delbert Dancker, Howard Schultz and Robert Schultz.

Clara Jean Francis was born on July 7, 1918, in Greenwood, to Fred and Charlotte (nee Stoneburg) Francis. She attended and graduated from Greenwood High School and then moved to Milwaukee for a couple of years. She married Darrell S. Buettner on May 12, 1938, in Neillsville. They moved to Hackensack, Minn., where she first worked for her mother-in-law and later as the school secretary for 11 years. She then worked for the Agh Wah Ching Sanitarium as the supervisor in the laundry department for many years before her retirement. She moved to Neillsville in November 2007. She loved to travel. She went to Germany in1979, and Holland in 1980. She also liked to crochet and play bingo. In Hackensack, she was the Sunday school superintendent at the Congregational Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Charlotte (David) Tetzlaff, Neillsville; a son-in-law, Herman Hediger, Jr., Neillsville; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Martha (Ed) Harycki, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Darrell, in 1975; a daughter, Mildred "Millie" in 1988; her parents; and 11 brothers and sisters.

The Gesche Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
