Blodgett, Irene M. (14 JUN 1941)

A lovely wedding service was solemnized in the Curtiss Evangelical Lutheran church at Curtiss, Saturday, June 14, at 11:00 a. m., amid a setting of beautiful flowers and roses built up to resemble a vine and a large bouquet, a gift of close friends, when Miss Irene Mildred Blodgett, daughter of Mrs. Laura Blodgett of Abbotsford exchanged the holy vows of matrimony with William T. Maki, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nestor Maki, of Owen.

The ceremony was performed by the Rev. L. O. Anderson, of Evanston, Ill.

The bride was beautifully dressed in an ivory satin and lace gown with a train of white gores and a finger tip veil crowned with a head piece of white sweet peas and roses. She carried a bouquet of white roses and carnations.

Her maid of honor, Edna Maki, sister of the bridegroom wore a gown of peach silk net and lace and wore a shoulder corsage of roses and gladioli. The bridesmaids, Hazel Blodgett, sister of the bride and Audrey Finnestad, a close friend, wore gowns of blue of the same pattern as the maid of honor, and carried bouquets of roses, carnations and honeysuckls.

The bridegroom was attended by Curtiss Blodgett, brother of the bride as best man and Robert Maki, brother of the bridegroom and Wayne Blodgett, brother of the bride.

Thirty minutes previous to the ceremony while guests and friends were arriving at the church a musical organ interlude by Mrs. George Maki was played.

During the ceremony a lovely hymn was sung by the Misses LaVerne and Margaret Marking accompanied by Miss Theresa Marking at the organ.

Following the service a reception was held at the Nestor Maki home at which time over 200 guests were served. The home was beautifully decorated for the occasion in a colorful scheme of peach and blue colored streamers in the dining and living rooms of the home.

The newlyweds will make their home at the Nestor Maki farm home where the groom works the farm with his father.

Out of town guests at the service were Rev. L. O. Anderson, Audrey Finnestad of Evanston, Ill.; Wayne Blodgett of Flemington, N. J.; Mrs. Ed Maki of East Chicago, Ind.; Mr. ***The rest of the article is cut off, and unavailable at the time of transcription.***
