Laffe, Louisa (11 JUL 1869 - 12 MAY 1948)

Humbird, Clark Co., Wis. - Mrs. George Laffe,78, a resident of this village for the past 44 years, died at her home here at midnight Wednesday. She had been in poor health for the past year and a half.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Laffe home at 1:30 p.m. and at the Humbird Evangelical and Reformed Church at 2 p.m. on Saturday. The Rev. George Hohmann will officiate and burial will be in the Mentor Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Georgas Funeral Home in Neillsville until Saturday morning, when it will be taken to the home.

Louis Eisenhard (Eisenhart?) was born in Germany and came to the United States with her parents when she was 16. They settled near Humbird and she was married to George Laffe. The couple moved to Winona, Minn., but 44 years ago they returned to Humbird and operated a hotel there until the death of Mr. Laffe seven years ago.

Mrs. Laffe was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America and a charter member of the Humbird Evangelical and Reformed Church.

She is survived by five children, Louis, Leonard and Henry, Humbird; Mrs. Hugh (Mary) Iffland, New London; a brother, Henry, Chicago; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A son, Frederick, and two brothers and a sister preceded her in death.
