Local Happenings in Colby and Vicinity

Everett Mossing of West Bend spent the week-end with his mother Mrs. H. P. Mossing.

Mr. and Mrs. Don Borchert of La Crosse visited last Thursday with the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Borchert.

Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Nichols and son of Minneapolis, Minn., spent the week-end with the former’s brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bender.

Sunday guests at the home of Dr. and Mrs. F. A. Weix were the latter’s grandmother, Mrs. Kate Weber of Thorp and her aunt, Mrs. Frank Jones of Altoona.

Mrs. Norman Wenzel and son, Everett, left Sunday evening for Cando, North Dakota, where they will visit this week with her parents and other relatives.

Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Schefchik of Milwaukee and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schefchik of Loyal were supper guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William A. Bauer last Thursday.

As delegates of Zion Lutheran church Pastor O. Hoffmann and Edwin Frome, Sr., are attending the district convention of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod this week at Clintonville.

Adrian A. Gries of the U.S. navy is on a 30-day leave after serving the past year in the Pacific. He is visiting his sister, Miss Audrey Gries, in Colby and his father, Alphonse Gries, in Cable.

Frederick Dins, accompanied by Mrs. Walter Schauer and Mrs. Otto Dins, autoed Walter Schauer to Rochester, Minn., Monday where Mr. Schauer will receive medical treatments at the Mayo Clinic.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bracken of Chicago, Ill., visited several days with the latter’s brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William F. Roth. They, accompanied by the Roth’s, visited several days with friends in Minneapolis, Minn.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Fredericks and daughter, Tanya, and Miss Margaret Frane of Milwaukee visited several days with the ladies’ mother, Mrs. Laura Frane. Miss Mary Lou Hildebrand of Brainbridge, Md. is visiting several weeks with her grandmother, Mrs. Frane.

Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Nelsen spent several days at Madison and Ringwood, Ill. At Madison, they attended graduation exercises of the University of Wisconsin when their son, Ronald, graduated from a course in chemical engineering and at Ringwood they visited Mrs. Nelsen’s sister.
