Neitzel, Lavilla (Marriage - 15 Sept. 1948)

Miss Lavilla Neitzel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Neitzel of Marshfield, route 4, became the bride of Clarence W. Schilling, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schilling of the town of Hull at Peace Lutheran church in the town of Frankfort on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 15th, Rev. Ernest Notbohm reading the marriage ceremony.

The bride wore a gown of traditional white satin fashioned with a fitted bodice, yoke of marquisette, edged with Chantilly lace, and long sleeves, ending in points at the wrists. The full entrained skirt was edged with lace and had a large bustle back. Her fingertip veil, also edged with Chantilly lace, was also caught to a tiara of orange blossoms, and she carried an all-white bouquet of roses and chrysanthemums.

Miss Betty Neitzel, as her sister’s maid of honor, wore an all-white net over satin gown, fashioned with off-the-shoulder yoke edged in ruffles and full skirt. She also wore matching mitts and net heart-shaped bonnet. Her bouquet was of white asters and roses.

The bridesmaids were Miss Lois Neitzel, another sister, and Mrs. Harley Witte, sister of the groom, who were dressed in identical gowns of green and yellow, respectively, made with ruffled necklines and a ruffle skirt back. They also wore matching mitts and net bonnets and carried bouquets of roses and asters.

Miss Pricilla Neitzel and Miss Shirley Ehmke, little cousins of the bride, served as flower girls in identically styled dresses of pink satin, made with ruffle necklines and full skirts. Their hair was tied back with large pink ribbons and they carried bouquets of white, pink, and yellow asters tied with pink ribbon.

Attending the groom were Thomas Schilling, his brother, Harley Witt, and William Giese.

A reception and dinner were held at the home of the bride’s parents with 150 guests present. In the evening a dance was given at the Trianon Gardens.

Following a wedding trip to southern Wisconsin and Illinois they will make their home on a farm, north of Marshfield.

The bride is a graduate of Colby High School with the class of 1945.

Guests from Milwaukee, Medford, Colby, Edgar, Marshfield, Wausau, Abbotsford, Spencer, Chicago, and Garden Prairie, Ill., were present.
