Miss Marilyn Sommer, daughter of Theodore Sommer, and Leonard Wachsmuth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Wachsmuth, exchanged marriage vows Saturday, Sept. 20, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran church, Rev. M. C. Goetsch reading the marriage ceremony before a flower-decked and candle-lighted altar. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Doris Wachsmuth of Chicago, sister of the groom, was maid of honor and Mrs. Roland Knecht, cousin of the bride. The groom was attended by Marlyn Sommer, twin brother of the bride, and Roland Knecht. The bride was attired in a dress of velvet bodice with a sweetheart yoke of bridal veiling edged in ruffles, velvet buttons down the back, full skirt of bridal veiling over satin with ruffle inserts held in place by pearl clusters. A full-length veil was caught to a bonnet headdress and flower inserts. She carried a shower bouquet of flesh colored roses and white gladiolas and wore a strand of pearls and pearl ear-rings, a gift of the groom. The maid of honor and bridesmaid wore identical dresses of sheer pink marquisette over taffeta, ruffle inserts in the skirt, fitted bodice and wore long lace mitts. Pink and white carnations inserted in net completed their headdress. Their bouquets consisted of pink carnations and pink and white gladiolus. Both also wore pearls and pearl ear-rings. Both carried pink and white lace handkerchiefs, gifts of the bride. The flower girl wore a frock of white and pink organdy with matching sweetheart bonnet and carried bouquets of pink carnations and two-toned pink and white gladiolas.

The groom’s mother wore a blue dress with matching accessories and her corsage consisted of roses and carnations. The bride’s 93 year-old grand mother wore a black dress and her corsage consisted of roses, mums and carnations.

A wedding reception was given at the home of the bride’s brother in law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Schutte, Unity. The home was decorated with white bells, pink and white streamers, cut flowers and pink ribbons. Cedar boughs and candles adorned the tables.

The couple will make their home at Wausau where the groom is employed by the Wausau Plumbing & Heating company and the bride by the Marathon Electric Co.
