Kobs, Margaret (17 Apr. 1926 - 22 Mar. 1946)

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock in the Lulloff Funeral Home and at 2:00 o’clock at Zion Ev. Lutheran church for Mrs. Roger Kobs, age 19, of the town of Colby who died at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital Friday morning at 11:45 o’clock from burns received in an explosion of gasoline fumes at her home Wednesday morning of last week. Rev. O. Hoffmann officiated and burial was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Alvin Gosse, Peter John Beyerl, Richard Herrmann, Herbert Waldhart, Herbert Prange and Harold Kademan. Those in charge of the flowers were Marcia Gries, Serena Sabler, Jeanette Stecker, Hazel Krueger, Wanda Stache, Edith Waldhart and Phyllis Waldhart.

Mrs. Kobs mistook gasoline for kerosene when starting a furnace fire and the resulting blast from the exploding vapors badly burned her chest and arms and set her clothing on fire. However, she put out the fire in the basement and went to the barn, where her husband was milking, for assistance.

Mrs. Kobs was born in Colby, Wisconsin on April 17th, 1926, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. C. Waldhart. She was married here on September 1, 1945. She was a graduate of the Colby High School with the class of 1944, and, prior to her marriage, was employed by the Whitehouse Milk Company and the Wing drug store in Abbotsford, Wisconsin.

Besides her husband and parents, she is survived by three brothers - Wallace, Gilbert and William Waldhart, Jr., all of Colby, Wisconsin.
