Vanderhoof, Joel (3 Apr. 1878 - 12 Mar. 1946)

Joel Vanderhoff, a former resident of Colby, Wisconsin, died in Minneapolis. Woodrow Tesmer autoed after the body Wednesday. Plans are being made to hold the funeral service at the Lulloff Funeral Home Saturday afternoon.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon for Joel Vanderhoof, whose death was reported last week. Rev. M. B. Ferguson officiated at the services at 1:30 at the Lulloff Funeral Home, where the body had been lying in state, and at 2:00 o’clock at the Methodist church. Burial was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Peter Apfelbeck, John Engeldinger, Ed Schultz, Oscar Dittmeyer, Jake Hauser and Nick Baer. Those in charge of the flowers were Mrs. Merton Morrow, Beatrice Kraus, Norma Engeldinger and Lenore Engeldinger.

Mr. Vanderhoof was born at Plymouth on April 3, 1878, thus reaching the age of 67 years. He was married on January 9, 1900, in Colby to Irene Van Slett who died on October 7, 1942. He was employed at the Colby Box Factory until about two years ago when he retired. The past year he had been living at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jack Wagner, St. Paul. He had been in poor health the past four months and last week suffered a stroke.

Surviving are four daughters - Mrs. Jack (Doris) Wagner, Mrs. Terry (Mildred) Collins and Mrs. Walter (Roselyn) Stabnow, all of St. Paul, and Mrs. Clarence (Sylvia) Olson of Marshfield. Also two brothers and two sisters - Calvin of Superior and Edward of Fairview, Mont., Mrs. Oscar Rossman of Waukesha and Mrs. Jessie Vanderhoof of Napa, Calif. There are seven grand children and two great grand children.

*** Note: Joel’s date of death is from the Minnesota Death Index, 1908-2002. He is buried in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Colby, Clark County, Wisconsin, listed as Joel Vanderhoof.
