Selma Karnitz

NEILLSVILLE -- Selma Karnitz, 97, of Neillsville, Wisconsin, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2007, at Memorial Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at Pine Valley Zion Lutheran Church in Neillsville.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville and 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Selma Augusta Miller was born Feb. 3, 1910, in Greenwood to William and Anna (Tuburen) Miller. She attended the Braun Settlement School in Greenwood and married Thone Karnitz on June 20, 1928. They farmed, and later Selma worked as a nurse's aid, retiring in 1980.

She is survived by a daughter, Lois Smetana of Black River Falls; daughter-in-law, Virginia Karnitz of Neillsville; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
