Powe, Lois M. (23 NOV 1940)

Lois Minetta Powe, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. William P.D. Powe of this city (Owen, Clark Co., Wis.), and Elmer A. Kretzschmar of Milwaukee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kretzschmar of Milwaukee, were married Saturday, Nov. 23, 1940, at St. Mathew’s Church in Milwaukee, Rev. A.L. Halboth, performing the double-ring ceremony.

Eunice Jean Powe, only sister of the bride, was bridesmaid. Eldred Ohm, cousin of the groom was best man.

The bride wore a floor length dress of white star dust taffeta, a fingertip veil having a seed pearl tiara, white satin slippers, and carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums. To carry out the tradition that good luck is brought by the bride wearing "something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue," the bride wore a blue sapphire ring of an aunt and also a string of pearls.

Nuptial music was played during the ceremony.

The bridesmaid wore rose maire taffeta with stitching of gold thread and bows of dubonnet velvet. She wore a shoulder length veil of dubonnet with a crescent of dubonnet velvet flowers and gold slippers, and carried a bouquet of yellow chrysanthemums.

Following the ceremony a dinner was served for 35 guests and in the evening a reception was held at which 100 guests were present.

After a short trip the couple will be at home in Milwaukee where the groom is employed.
