Gustafson, Paul S. (August 23, 1928 - Novemaber 29, 2007) Flag

Paul S. Gustafson, age 79, of 417 McKenzie St., Stanley, WI, and longtime Town of Worden resident, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 29, 2007, at Our Lady of Victory Hospital, Stanley, WI.

Services were held on Monday, December 3, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Christian Fellowship Church, Stanley, WI, with Pastor Luke Geraty officiating. Burial followed in the Oakland Cemetery, Stanley, WI, with Military Graveside Rites being performed by the Stanley VFW Post #2711. Friends and family were called Sunday evening from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Plombon Funeral Chapel, Stanley, WI. Plombon Funeral Service assisted the family with arrangements.

Paul was born August 23, 1928, in Mound City South Dakota, the son of Gustaf and Blanche (Hornby) Gustafson. He grew up in Selby, South Dakota and attended area schools. He was united in marriage to Edna Goetz on January 22, 1951, and farmed in South Dakota for a short time before serving his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. In 1958 he and Edna moved to Wisconsin where they purchased a farm in the Town of Worden and farmed there until retirement in 1977. They then purchased a home in the city of Stanley and have resided there since. Paul also worked from 1975-2003 for ABX, Sire Power and Select Sires. In his spare time, he enjoyed working with his Belgian work horses and making maple syrup, using his horses to pickup the sap.

Paul is survived by his wife, Edna, of Stanley, WI, and his children: Michael (Jean) Gustafson, and Barbara (Larry) Ciokiewicz, both of Stanley, Daniel (special friend Barb) Gustafson of Bath Springs, TN, and Douglas (Corinne) Gustafson of Stanley; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one more on the way; three sisters: Alice Bentley and Edna Brings, both of WA, and Helen Dokken of St. Paul, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Ralph, Milo and Alvin Gustafson; and four sisters: Marilyn, Gladys, Fern, and one in infancy.
