Larson, Hjalmer (1 SEP 1858 - 19 DEC 1940)

Hjalmer Larson, 82 years of age, died at his home one mile north of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), on Thursday, Dec. 19, 1940, of old age infirmities.

With his passing we lose another of the old settlers who helped to build this community into what it is today.

Mr. Larson came her from Gotland, Sweden, where he was born on Sept. 1, 1858. His first farm was located one mile east of Thorp, and he resided there from Oct. 1882 to April 15, 1934, when he moved on the place in the Town of Thorp where he lived until death.

He is survived by his widow Olivia Beckman Larson, to whom he was united in marriage on Sept. 16, 1893; also two sons, Victor M. of Nekoosa, Wis., and Walter of Bloomer, and one daughter, Ella M. Larson of Thorp, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. One son, Harry, preceded him in death on Sept. 13, 1936.

Funeral services were held at two o’clock Sunday afternoon last at the Bogumill Funeral Home, rev. Jas. Irish officiating and interment taking place in the East Thorp Cemetery. Pallbearers were, Mike Kronberg, Peter Kronberg, Amos Sisco, Isaac Sisco, William Glasshof and Frank Smitke.
